Dr. Frank Bucciero
Academic, clinician, and entrepreneur Dr. Frank Bucciero started his career in medicine with a B.S. in Biology at SUNY University at Albany in 1980. He went on to get his O.D. degree at SUNY College of Optometry in 1984 and his Residency in Pediatric Vision and Ocular Disease in 1985. During the final year of his doctorate, Dr. Bucciero was awarded the David Gordon Award for Clinical Excellence for “Best Clinician in All Areas of Study”, an honor given to the top graduate of each class.
Dr. Bucciero continued on his academic path as an Assistant Professor at SUNY and as a Didactic and Clinical Education Instructor for Diagnostic Pharmaceutical Agents for the State of New York. He currently lectures throughout the country on clinical decision making, pharmacology, and advances in diagnostic techniques for optometry, including the development and teaching of three COPE approved courses in Optometry. He has published papers in both the Journal of the American Optometric Association and American Journal of Optometry and Physiological Optics.
Since 1986, Dr. Bucciero has been in private practice at Family Vision Care in Springfield, NJ. He has a patient base of over 2,000 while also working with 18 nursing homes and 12 assisted living facilities. He has served as Managing Partner for Contact Lens and Vision Consultants, a fifteen doctor, $4.5 million practice with 5 locations and 40 support staff that saw over 7,000 patients a year. He has also served as Center Director for Omni Eye Services, and was responsible for the start-up and management of operations for a 5 ophthalmologist, 2 optometrist referral office. He grew the business from $0 to over $2.5 million in revenue during his tenure as center director.
Dr. Bucciero currently serves as a Consultant to Diopsys and serves on its Medical and Scientific Advisory Board, providing clinical information and recommendations for the development of various Diopsys vision testing systems. His practice have served as a critical beta site supporting a number Diopsys new product development initiatives and was instrumental in the final development and testing of the Diopsys® NOVA-LX, and NOVA-ERG programs.
